what I wore to work: AGUST EDITION ✨

Continuing my goal to “dress up” for work everyday, I had a lot of fun trying to wear the rest of my summer clothing during August.

Though the temptation to slowly transition into fall clothing was strong, I held onto my love for summer and will continue to do so until the weather permits it—(my studio is in a converted attic after all, and it gets pretty hot up there still lol)

From sharing my outfits everyday in my stories and these reels for the last 3 months, I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me saying that they, too, have set a goal of dressing up more, and I’d love to hear how it’s going!

The challenge continues…

On May 30th, I decided that instead of wearing yoga pants to work from home everyday (not that there’s anything wrong with that), I would make more of an effort to get ready for the day, as if I were going to another location and seeing other people, whether I actually was or not. With every outfit, I also included a Fado Made accessory 💖

What I have gained along the way is more confidence, a more refined personal style, and more appreciation for the clothes that I have already in my closet! It’s been a really fun way to fall back in love with my style, plus style our accessories for everyday use.

On my birthday (5/30) last month, I set up a chall

On my birthday (5/30) last month, I set up a challenge for myself to see if instead of defaulting to yoga clothes and sweats to work from home, I would instead “dress up” and make more of an effort getting ready for the day.

My reason behind it was because as a person who struggles with her mental health and faces the struggles (and privilege) of running a small fashion business full time, I figured that if I felt I looked good on the outside, I would feel at least a little better on the inside.

Plus, I felt that I had lost some of my personal style identity over the last few years, which was something that was extremely important to me when I was a teen, and I wanted to see how I my style has evolved now that I’m in my 30s.

What I found during this month is that clothing truly does make an impact on mood (for me, at least), I have A LOT of clothes (contrary to how I feel sometimes lol), and you shouldn’t wait for the “right occasion” to wear something. JUST WEAR IT!

I also found that getting “dressed up” everyday wasn’t has hard as I thought it would be. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by the act, I instead felt invigorated and that it helped my creativity for the day, which is pretty important in designing and constructing leather goods (which can be seen styled with all ‘fits in the reel)

My husband will be very happy to see me wearing this hat 👀…

…he bought it for me a few years ago and I haven't worn it much 😬

But, I thought this fun audio by @readwritethrift that I first heard from @thevintageepicurean would be a great excuse to style it and hopefully wear it more!

I took this cream drop waist dress with a bluish-green and yellow watercolor pattern, paired it with our sleek & sporty Stevie Tote* to pull from the colors of the dress, and topped it off with the aforementioned hat from @hiwirebrewing.

Though a tad impractical for the current temperatures we're having in East Tennessee, I thought these knee-high suede boots would be the perfect pair of shoes to bring it all together. I then accessorized with my vintage gold chains and rings for some subtle shine ✨

I've been having so much fun reviving my personal style this past month, and this was a great way to mix things up 🤍
